Good Hope Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a denomination committed to preaching the Word of God and upholding the Scriptures as our guide in faith and daily living. Our church exists to glorify God, and our vision is to be a body that is a worshiping, welcoming, growing, teaching, loving, serving, and sending community of believers, to the glory of God and the promotion of the kingdom of Jesus Christ. We strive to demonstrate our commitment to Jesus Christ, our commitment to our family and the family of believers, and our commitment to the local community and the world throughout our ministries.

Our Pastor: Jack Waller

Good Hope Presbyterian Church is very thankful for our pastor, Jack Waller, who has faithfully served our congregation since January 1993.

Jack (pictured here with daughter-in-law Laura Lynne, sons Jacob and Caleb, daughters Rachel and Abi, and wife Chris, in this March 2007 photo) was born and grew up in Pensacola, Florida as the youngest of nine children. He attended Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia and graduated from the University of West Florida in Pensacola with a degree in history and political science. He earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1983 from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. Jack met his future wife Chris in 1974, when he providentially served on the search committee that called Chris's father to be the senior pastor at Warrington Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Pensacola, where Jack was working with the youth group at the time. Jack and Chris were married in 1977. Their son Jacob was born in 1983, followed by daughter Rachel Grace in 1987, son Caleb in 1989, and daughter Abi in 1991.

After his graduation from seminary, Jack was called back to Pensacola to be the organizing pastor for a mission church that became Northeast Presbyterian Church (PCA), where he served from 1983 until December 1992, when he was called to Good Hope Presbyterian Church.

Our Assistant Pastor: Sam Hettinger

Sam (pictured here with his wife Laura and daughter Hannah) grew up in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida as the oldest of four boys. He felt God's call on his life in high school, and Sam knew then that he was to serve God in his vocation. Sam graduated from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia in 1999 with a BA in Biblical Studies and earned a Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri in 2002.

Sam met and fell in love with his future wife Laura at Crossroads Community Church (PCA) in Hillsborough, New Jersey, where he was the youth pastor. They spent 8 months as friends, 8 months dating, and 8 months engaged; they were married two years to the day that Sam moved to New Jersey. God blessed them with their daughter Hannah in May 2008 and their son Cole in June 2011.

Sam was called to Good Hope Presbyterian Church in November 2009. He was ordained to the ministry in June 2010 and now serves as the Assistant Pastor.

A Brief History

Good Hope was formally organized in November 1992, although we began meeting as a daughter church of Wallace Presbyterian in 1987. Our congregation met for 14 years in a Montgomery County school building, until constructing and moving into our own church building in Fulton, Maryland in November 2006. We are thankful for our pastor, Jack Waller, who has faithfully served our congregation since January 1993, and for our assistant pastor, Sam Hettinger, who joined our congregation in November 2009.
