Mercy
Good Hope recognizes that all have been recipients of God’s mercy. Mercy Ministries is an expression of the grace we have received. The practical ways in which Good Hope expresses this are listed below.
Howard County Food Bank
Good Hope collects donations of non-perishable food items for the Howard County Food Bank. Each month will have a theme of suggested donations provided by the Food Bank. However, non- perishable items of any kind are always welcome. Please place items in the box in the foyer.
Angel Tree
Angel Tree is a nationwide ministry to children of incarcerated parents. Participants are given the name and age of a child and asked to purchase 1-2 Christmas gifts for them. Gifts are collected in the fellowship hall and then distributed at a pre-determined date.
Thanksgiving Baskets
Similar to the Howard County food bank, Good Hope collects non-perishable food items necessary for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. These items are assembled in a basket and given to a home in need. Monetary donations are welcome and are used to purchase a turkey for each basket.
Deacon Funds
Despite living in an affluent area, Good Hope realizes that many individuals in our area are in need. To better serve, a Deacon’s Fund has been established which allocates financial assistance to deserving causes. Requests for assistance are reviewed by the deacons according to pre-determined guidelines. Donations may be earmarked for the Deacon fund either by using the designed envelope found in the Narthex or by marking “Deacons Fund” on the memo line of a check. The totality of these gifts go to these designated causes.
